I make art that creates spaces for public discourse on political, social, historical and personal subjects, thereby giving participants a voice and creating a platform for public discussion. From "I Wish to Say," a public performance in which I set up a public office and invite passersby to dictate postcards to the president, to a sculptural installation called "Writer's Block" in which "caged" typewriters served as a reminder of the power of free speech and a short film called "On the Continuum of Fear" that explores a mother's unspoken fears, my projects are made with tools typically employed by journalists. Using the camera, the typewriter, the pen and the interview, I investigate, question and challenge. The art itself lies in the "spaces" I create.
